Savory Cheddar &
Walnut Turnover
Hors D’Oeuvres

Ingredients
  • Makes 20 turnovers

  • 1 C Adams Reserve Cheddar, grated
  • 1 large Yellow Onion, julienne
  • 2 oz butter
  • 3/4 C toasted Walnuts
  • 1 T fresh Thyme, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground Black pepper
  • 1 12”x18” sheet of puff pastry, thawed
 

In a medium sauté pan, caramelize the onions with the butter over medium heat. Let cool. Combine all ingredients in a food processor and pulse into a rough paste.

Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper. Cut the puff pastry into 2”x2” squares. Place 1 1/2 teaspoons of the cheese mixture into the center of each square. Lightly brush the edges with the egg wash, fold over and crimple the edges with a fork. With a paring knife pierce an “X” in the top of each turnover. Lightly brush the tops with egg wash and bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
